This cake is one of the most delicious cakes ever invented, and is served in just about every Nicaraguan, or Cuban restaurant in Miami.  The cuatro leches cake is the
basic tres leches cake with the addition of dulce de leche (caramelized milk).  The process of making the caramelized milk (the fourth milk) involves
a slow cooking down of sweetened liquid until it achieves a very thick consistency.
Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Cooking Time: 4 hours

Serves 10 portions

Dulce de Leche
(Caramelized Milk)

Ingredients:

1 gallon whole milk

3 cups sugar

3 tablespoons white vinegar

Directions:
1. Place the milk and sugar in a large, heavy sauce pan over a medium-high heat.

2. Bring to a boil.
3. Add the vinegar which will cause the milk-sugar mixture to separate.
4. Cook for about 3 hours until the liquid has evaporated, and the solids have caramelized.

5. Add a thick layer of this dulce de leche recipe on the top, and sides of the tres leches cake.
6. Serve cold, and enjoy with family and friends.  You can actually eat this delicious, moist
    cake with a spoon!
